News Briefs: Festival Season Edition
With the very successful French Quarter Fest and Block Party now behind us, we’re knee-deep in Festival Season® 2012. Here are a few quick hits to dig on before Jazz Fest kicks us square in the teeth. There’s a new video from Lucky Lou da Greatest, new albums from Dr. Michael White and Chef Menteur, and a new festival celebrating experimental jazz.

Jermy Tassin from the Magnolia Projects evolved to become LuckyLou, a 25-year-old rapper, dancer and community leader. 08.27: Vox and the Hound + Coyotes + Mobley – Carrollton Station
If there is a New Orleans band that both typifies “indie rock” and gracefully avoids the genre’s propensity for offering up artists capable of nothing more than middling, five-out-of-ten twee pop, that band is undeniably Vox and the Hound. Having just ended an extended summer break, the five-piece will be holding it’s first performance in New Orleans since May at Carrollton Station.
